Kia Corporation has become the fastest brand to surpass the 3 Lakh sales milestone in the Indian market

Kia Corporation has become the fastest brand to surpass the 3 Lakh sales milestone in the Indian market. The South-Korean automaker achieved this feat in less than 2 years in the domestic market. The company touched the 1 Lakh milestone in July 2020 while the next 1 Lakh sales numbers were recorded in January 2021, followed by the last one lakh sales in August 2021. Needless to say, Kia Seltos spearheaded the sales numbers by grabbing 66 percent of the overall sales while the Sonet registered 32 percent of the total sales.

Commenting on the achievement, Mr Kookhyun Shim, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kia India said, “300,000 sales for Kia India is a strong affirmation of customer acceptance and their confidence in the brand and its offerings. Despite testing times, the Indian market has shown a strong rebound in demand. Our extensive sales, after-sales service network, and pre-emptive measures like an end-to-end digitised sales process helped us minimize business risks and perform against all odds. Over the last years, we have carefully identified the unmet needs of Indian customers and catered to them with premium, well-designed products equipped with segment-first features. We are confident that our best in class products and ownership experience will continue to exhilarate our customers."

The brand achieved the first one lakh sales milestone in 1 year and clocked the latter two lakhs in the same amount of time. The 3 Lakhth unit to roll out of Kia's production facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh was a Seltos. Kia India also stated that besides the Seltos and Sonet, it had also retailed 7,310 units of the Carnival MPV. The brand intends to increase the number of dealerships from 300 to 360, thereby covering the 90 percent of the Indian market which includes Tier III, IV cities and upcountry markets. The Anantapur facility provides employment to more than 13,000 people. "The trust and love of our customers keeps the entire Kia India team motivated and I am sure that the next one lakh milestone will be achieved much faster,” added Shim.
