Kia India has already confirmed that the all-new KY, also called as Carens, will be launched in the country

Kia KY MPV is all set for its world premiere on December 16, 2021. However, ahead of the official debut, the interior of the upcoming vehicle has been leaked online via spy images. Kia India has already confirmed that the all-new KY, also called as Carens, will be its fourth product in the country after Seltos, Carnival and Sonet. Kia Carens is expected to launch in March 2022 in the Indian market while it will be positioned between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta in the MPV segment.

Going by the spy image, it seems like a mid variant as it missed out on the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is standard across all the top variants in Kia portfolio. Instead, it houses an 8-inch touchscreen unit which we have seen in several mid variants of Kia cars. One can also clearly see the all digital instrument cluster with font style similar to the India-spec Hyundai i20. As for the steering wheel, it boasts of multi-function controls for audio and telephone while being identical to the unit seen in the Seltos and Sonet. The AC controls are placed beneath the touchscreen system in digital form which can be operated via buttons instead of a knob.

Kia Carens is expected to arrive in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The second row will be offered with one touch tumble down feature while the last row occupants will also get cup holders, AC vents and USB charging ports. In fact, it is learnt that the second row occupants will also have wireless charging feature. The range-topping variant could also get sunroof as standard fitment. Mechanically, the Carens MPV will be powered by the brand's 1.5L petrol and diesel engines that do duty to the Seltos and Sonet. The power and torque figures are also expected to be the same as Seltos while transmission choices would also be carried over from the Seltos.
