The car will make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

Very little about the car has been revealed so far, but car is expected to feature similar engines and will be similar in size to the Hyundai Kona. The engines will most likely be shared with the Rio, given the two cars share the same platform. There could be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder, a 1.25-litre and 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engines, and a 1.4-litre diesel for higher-end cars.

A plug-in hybrid will make its way to the line-up at a later stage. At the front, there’s a muscular bonnet and a 'tiger nose' grille flanked by angular headlights and daytime running LED lights. The swooping roofline, flared wheel arches and large alloy wheels give this car a sporty appearance.

The Stonic’s design is inspired by the larger Sportage and Sorento SUVs. On the inside, there will be a lot of tech, including a floating central infotainment screen. The company announced plans to manufacture in India with a US$1.1 billion (around ₹6,949 crore) factory lined up in Andhra Pradesh. The factory can produce 3 lakh units a month when it becomes functional.
