Kia India announced that the Sonet crossover SUV has crossed 3.68 lakh unit sales in the Indian market. The automaker first launched the five-seater SUV in India in 2020 after getting an overwhelming response from customers for the Seltos. The company set foot in the domestic market with Seltos. The Sonet has gained significant sales numbers since its launch. The automaker attained 50,000 bookings within just 2 months of its launch in India. The Sonet subcompact SUV achieved the 1 lakh sales unit milestone in just 12 months after its debut, and it’s been one of the most popular and best-selling automobiles in its segment.

Kia recently revealed the updated Sonet facelift in the domestic market, and the prices will be disclosed in January 2024. The Sonet facelift is likely to come in a price range of INR 7.50 lakh to INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia will commence the bookings for the new Sonet at 12:00 a.m. on December 20, 2023. The new facelift comes with new features, ADAS functionality, and revised exterior styling. This is the first time Kia has updated this SUV since its launch. The sub-four-metre SUV comes in 7 variants: X-Line, GTX+, HTX, HTK, HTX+, HTK+, and HTE, across eleven exterior hues.

The Kia Sonet facelift comes with the same powertrain options, including the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 1.2-litre petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines. As a standard, the 1.2-litre petrol will come with a five-speed manual, whereas the 1.5-litre diesel unit will get a six-speed iMT and a six-speed automatic. The 1.0-litre GDI will come with a seven-speed DCT automatic and a six-speed iMT. The company will also include a six-speed manual choice for the diesel version.

Kia India is also making its mark in the Indian EV segment with its electric cars like the EV6. The automaker announced that it will launch the new EV9 electric SUV next year, and this will be the company’s second electric vehicle in India. Kia first showcased the EV9 during the Auto Expo in January this year. Apart from the EV9, Kia is all set to unveil the new-generation Carnival MPV in 2024.
