Kia is going to unveil the Sonet facelift in the India market on December 14, 2023. Bookings for the new SUV are likely to start in January 2024. The subcompact SUV will get new design updates to make it more appealing and an updated cabin. In October, a few images of the SUV were leaked in China, showcasing the exterior design updates in the new SUV.
The Kia Sonet facelift is expected to come with a revised grille, redesigned headlamps along with vertical extensions, and a new front bumper. The bodyline of the SUV remains the same, while around the rear, the new tail lamps feature the same design as the bigger Seltos. The SUV gets new alloy wheels and an updated rear bumper.

Inside the cabin, the changes are probably going to be limited to a few control surface adjustments as well as changes to the upholstery and trim. Along with updating Sonet's feature list, Kia may also decide to add more functions, such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), to the highest-spec models. It is likely to get an updated dashboard along with new switchgear for the HVAC system. The SUV will come with the same updated digital instrument cluster available in the likes of Carens and Venue. It is expected to get new upholstery and trim options, with six airbags as standard.
The Sonet facelift is expected to continue with the same 1.5-litre diesel, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, and 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol unit engines. The naturally aspirated petrol unit will come mated to a manual gearbox as standard. While the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines are expected to come with the automatic gearbox and six-speed iMT gearbox options, Kia could also include a six-speed manual in the range as well.
The updated facelift will compete with the likes of Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. Kia Sonet is currently priced between INR 7.79 lakh and INR 14.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The company could increase the price of the upcoming facelift SUV.
