Kia Motors has discontinued the HTK Plus DCT 1.0 petrol and HTK Plus AT 1.5 diesel variants of Sonet.

Kia Sonet has been a big hit among the customers since its launch. In order to match up with the evolving market dynamics, the company has been updating the variant list. In that context, based on the customer feedback, Kia is planning to introduce two new variants of Sonet - HTX DCT Petrol and HTX AT Diesel in the country. Along with the addition of the new trims, the company has discontinued Sonet’s variants - HTK Plus DCT 1.0 petrol and HTK Plus AT 1.5 diesel, in the market from mid-April. Furthermore, dealerships are not accepting bookings for the same. All the bookings received till March 31 will be eligible to get the delivery of these variants.

Kia Sonet HTX Petrol DCT will be positioned between the HTK+ and GTX+. Until now, the DCT option was only offered with the HTK+ and GTX+ trims. All the customers who want to buy DCT but are not that interested in extra features can opt for this new HTX DCT trim. Performance-wise, Kia Sonet HTX Petrol DCT will be offered with a 1.0-litre turbo engine that churns out 118 bhp power and 172 Nm peak torque. The engine will further be linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Talking about the HTX diesel AT trim, it will draw its power from a 1.5-litre unit. While being mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the motor will generate a maximum power output of 113 bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. Currently, the AT option is offered only with the HTK+ and GTX+. The new trim will be positioned between the existing two automatic diesel trims of Sonet.

Coming to the feature list, the HTX variant comes equipped with LED headlamps with LED DRLs, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple Car Play & Android Auto, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, semi-leatherette seats, among many others. We can expect Kia to update the feature list of both new variants of Sonet.
