The new Kia Sorento is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25 lakhs - Rs 29 lakhs (ex-showroom). While the Toyota Fortuner BS6 is priced between Rs 28.18 lakhs - Rs 33.95 lakhs (ex-showroom).


Kia Sorento vs Toyota Fortuner BS6: Exterior Updates

In terms of exterior update, 2021 Kia Sorento shares design cues from the latest Kia Seltos. It is based on the new generation N3 platform. It features the signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille with integrated full-LED headlamps and bumpers that give it an aggressive look. The SUV gets diamond-cut alloy wheels with options of 17-inch, 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch. Other highlighted features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-tone wing mirrors. The rear gets LED-taillamps, roof-integrated spoiler and a bumper.


While Toyota Fortuner BS6 features front grille guard, automatic Bi-LED projector headlamps with chrome garnish, and auto-folding side mirrors. The rear end gets LED taillamps with chrome garnish and a powered tailgate. It gets 18-inch alloy wheels. 

 

Kia Sorento vs Toyota Fortuner BS6: Interior Updates

2021 Kia Sorento cabin boasts of leather upholstery. It is said to be more spacious than the outgoing model with a more premium feel to it. Key features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It also comes equipped with bits such as UVO connected car tech, ambient lighting, trapezoidal air vents, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.

Toyota Fortuner’s cabin stands to provide leatherette upholstery. It features a center console flanked by soft leather and metallic accents. Significant highlights include a 7.0-inch infotainment system with embedded navigation along with paddle shifters, a cooled upper glove box, ambient lighting,  power-adjustable driver & front passenger seats, auto-dimming internal rear-view mirror along with auto climate control as standard.


Kia Sorento vs Toyota Fortuner BS6: Engine Specifications

Kia Sorento will feature a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a 44.2 kW electric motor powered by 1.49 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. The electric hybrid churns out 225 bhp power and 350 Nm torque. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission transferring power to all four wheels. There will also be a Kia Sorento BS6 compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 199 bhp power output with 440 Nm torque, mated to a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. 

While the Toyota Fortuner BS6 is powered by a 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engine. The 2.7-litre petrol engine produces 164bhp power and 245Nm torque while the 2.8-litre diesel engine delivers 74bhp and 450Nm of peak torque. The petrol and diesel engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission, respectively. Along with this, a 6-speed auto box is also offered but only on the 4X4 trim. The diesel model comes with four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive options, while on the other hand, the petrol comes only with the latter.

 

Kia Sorento vs Toyota Fortuner BS6: Safety Features

Kia Sorento offers a host of new safety features which include seven airbags, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), forward collision and avoidance assist. It also gets blind-spot warning via camera and multi-collision brake system. 

On the other hand, Toyota Fortuner comes equipped with a plethora of safety equipment on board that include 7 airbags, Active Traction Control, Hill Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control accompanied with brake assist along with ABS with EBD.
