Kia has stated that the Car will feature “never-before-seen” human machine interface (HMI). It will also come with a ‘motion graphic’ lighting system that will preview features that could be seen on Kias in the future. This could mean that some tech on the concept may not necessarily make it to the Niro EV.
The Niro is already available in mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms and the EV is expected to use the same motor that’s in Hyundai’s Ioniq EV. The Ioniq has three types of powertrains.
The company will also showcase the extent of its autonomous system at the show. Kia's display – labelled 'Beyond Autonomous Driving' – will allow show visitors to sit in three interactive cockpits that will highlight new driver assistance systems and HMI functions. The concept will also be fitted with the world’s first in-car 5G mobile data system.
