What to expect from 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport? Find out here.

2020 might be the year when the resurgence of the automobile industry might take place, considering the fact that we are seeing launches and unveils of various vehicles across segments, marketers, and brands. Land Rover will launch the new Discovery Sport in India on February 13, 2020. Discovery is a premium compact SUV which was launched first in 2014 as a replacement for the outgoing Freelander. We can expect the pricing around Rs 60-70 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).

The speculation in the market is that the new Land Rover Discovery Sport might get an updated range of BS 6 2.0L petrol and diesel Ingenium engines. Land Rover could be introducing the P250 and the D180 engines in India. The petrol engine will generate maximum power around 250bhp while the diesel does about 180bhp. Both engines will be connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission and will get all-wheel drive as standard.

The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will have new bumpers at the front and rear end while the grille design will also be a fresh one. Clamshell bonnet, rising belt-line, and the roofline will be quite similar to the ongoing model. The dashboard is revamped and the center console is a new one with a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel that has capacitive switches. The cabin also boasts of an instrument cluster and a 10-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot.

Land Rover is tech-heavy with a plethora of driver assistance systems on all variants. We will see adaptive cruise control with steering assist, lane keeps assist, autonomous emergency braking, and driver condition monitor. The Land Rover Discovery Sport will feature an electric option with a mild-hybrid system.  There is an engine-mounted integrated starter generator for getting back the energy which was lost during braking and deceleration. When the SUV speed reaches below 18KMPH, the vehicle is designed in a way that the engine shuts off when the driver applies the brake. When the vehicles start moving, the stored energy is used to assist the engine under acceleration.
