Land Rover has revealed an off-roading version of its Discovery SUV, the SVX.

JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division has unveiled the Discovery SVX, with a 525hp V8 motor. This new Discovery is the first of many models that will wear the SVX logo.

In terms of styling, the SVX has snorkels and huge circular spotlights. The Discovery SVX also has LED lights on the roof, larger off-road tyres and new front and rear bumpers with skid plates. The SVX also gets revised suspension with increased ride height and all-round air suspension, and new lightweight alloy wheels with all-terrain Goodyear Wrangler tyres.

The Discovery is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 motor that makes 525hp. This is the same engine that SVO has used in its other projects – the V8 here is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV also features a new paint finish - Tectonic Orange - which is available for the exterior, alongside black roof bars and a black grille. Land Rover has also introduced some new updates to the standard Discovery range. It now has a new engine option and a new 12.3-inch TFT interactive instrument cluster (standard on HSE and HSE Luxury models). Lower-spec trims get a 10.0-inch touchscreen with 4G Wi-Fi.
