The next-generation ES 300h is priced at Rs 59.13 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is built on the company’s front-wheel-drive Global Architecture-K, which is derived from Toyota’s TNGA platform. The car features updated styling, more kit and a more powerful hybrid powertrain.
Lexus’ trademark spindle grille takes centre stage. The car gets LED headlights and a more dynamic rear end. The cabin has seen the most significant updates – there’s a 12.3-inch infotainment system that can be operated via a touchpad and voice-recognition technology. Then there is a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster that has been borrowed from the larger LS sedan. There are four interior colour schemes (Black, Chateau, Topaz Brown and Rich Cream) and three different types of cabin trims (a Shimamoku wood trim in black and brown, and a lighter-colored Bamboo trim) on offer.
The car is powered by an improved version of the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor. You can get it in a 218hp state of tune (a 16hp increase over the previous model) and the engine is also Euro-VI-compliant. Bookings for the new ES 300h sedan have commenced.
