Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus will make its entry into India with three models. These include the ES300h hybrid sedan, the RX450h mid-size SUV and its flagship seven-seater LX SUV.
Sharing underpinnings with the indestructible Toyota Land Cruiser, the LX SUV is definitely a potent off-roader, but it also packs in all the luxuries that the Lexus brand is known for. Read on to know more about this SUV.
The LX will be offered with the option of both petrol and diesel engine options. These include a 383hp, 5.7-litre petrol V8 and a 269hp, 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel motor, which will send power to all four wheels via automatic gearboxes.
Being a full-fat luxury SUV, it will come loaded with various features and equipments. Some of the features that are expected on board include a 360-degree camera, a four-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, adaptive suspension, powered front seats and dedicated rear seat entertainment systems with displays. Safety equipment is likely to include 10 airbags and traction control, while it remains to be seen if radar-based safety features are also offered on the Indian model.
The fully imported LX will take on big seven-seat SUVs like the Range Rover, Mercedes GLS and the Audi Q7. It’s expected to cost around Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom) and will hit Indian showrooms by March 2017; the carmaker has already commenced bookings for the car.
