With Lexus announcing its plans to finally launch in India, there has been a considerable buzz about the three models that will make their way here. Of the three, the company has revealed prices of only the ES 300h hybrid sedan and RX 450h hybrid SUV but there has been no word about the LX 450d.
Industry insiders say that the LX 450d might be priced around a lofty Rs 2.3 crore. A petrol variant is also thought to be part of the line-up. The LX will offer the Land Cruiser LC200 ’s terrain conquering ability but with a more luxurious and better-equipped interior. The petrol variant will also have a seven-seat layout with a third row of seats, unlike the diesel variant, which is a five-seater. Under the hood sits a 4.5-litre, twin turbo V8 diesel engine, as found in the India-spec Land Cruiser, good for 269hp and a massive 650Nm of torque.
