The American automaker, Jeep has launched the ‘Made-in-India’ Wrangler at Rs 53.90 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the country. The price goes as high as Rs 57.90 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the range-topping Rubicon trim. Since the off-roader is now assembled locally, there has been a dip in the price for the SUV by Rs 10.04-11.04 Lakhs. The ‘Made-in-India’ Jeep Wrangler comes in two variants - Unlimited and Legendary Rubicon, along with a new 80th Anniversary Edition. The SUV is offered only in the five-door guise.
The entry-level Unlimited trim gets the Selec-Trac’ full-time 4WD system with heavy-duty suspension while the top-end Rubicon variant gets a ‘Rock-Trac’ full-time 4WD system with electronically locking front and rear differentials, electronically operated sway bar and performance suspension. The other difference between the two trims is the set of alloy wheels they ride on. The Unlimited variant will ride on 18-inch alloy wheels. The legendary Rubicon is more off-road focused. It gets smaller size wheels but sport tyres with thicker sidewalls. Talking about the 80th Anniversary edition, it commemorates the brand’s birth with the Willys MB in 1941. It is based on the Unlimited trim but it does come with subtle styling touches that make it stand out from the other trims. It features a unique design for alloy wheels. Furthermore, the special edition also gets ‘80th Anniversary’ badging on the front fenders, centre console, and on the front seats.
Features like LED headlamps with DRLs, LED fog lamps, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7.0-inch colour MID screen in the instrument cluster, leather upholstery, keyless entry/start, and dual-zone climate control are common across the SUV range. The safety kit comprises of front and side airbags, hill descent control, electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors & camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, and hill start assist. The off-roader is offered in a total of five color options - Black, Granite Crystal, Firecracker Red, Sting Grey, and Bright White.
Under the bonnet, the new Wrangler continues to draw power from the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor that generates 268 bhp power and 400 Nm torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
