Lotus has entered the Indian automotive market with its Eletre e-SUV. The British sports car manufacturer confirmed at the launch event that it will be launching the Emira sports car in the country in 2024. Lotus is currently owned by a Chinese brand called Geely, which owns other auto brands such as Polestar, Livan, Volvo, Zeekr, Smart, and much more. The manufacturer has teamed up with Exclusive Motors of New Delhi to sell its upcoming model, the Emira sports car, in India. The firm will act as a distributor of Lotus cars in the country. Exclusive Motors of New Delhi also acts as a service provider for Bentley Motors in India. After the Eletre, the Emira is the second Lotus product to be launched in India. It will be exported to India via the CBU route.
The Emira sports car was revealed globally in 2021. This sports car is a two-door lightweight model, just like other Lotus sports cars. The Lotus Emira is designed to be a lightweight sports car, and it focuses on flexibility and driving pleasure. The new sports car is manufactured on the legacy of the Evora, Elise, and Exige, but it also has more fit and comfort features. The design of the Emira is inspired by the Evija hypercar, as it comes with sculpted and bold body lines.

Indian buyers will get to choose between two powertrains: the first is a Toyota-based 3.5-litre V6 motor that churns out 400 bhp, and it comes with a six-speed automatic torque converter. The second is an AMG-sourced, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder motor that churns out 360 bhp, and it is paired to an 8-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox.
In the Emira sports car, the British sports car manufacturer will offer a V6 engine that is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Both engine versions get a top speed of 290 kmph. The automatic version can sprint to 0-100 kmph in 4.2 seconds, while the manual version can sprint in 4.3 seconds.
The Lotus Emira is expected to come in a price range of INR 1.6 crore to INR 2 crore (ex-showroom). The Emira Sports car will directly compete with the Porsche 718 Cayman, which ranges between INR 1.48 crore and INR 2.74 crore (ex-showroom).
Inside the cabin, the Emira gets the enhanced practical features of the standard sports car. The dash cam equipped in the new sports car gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and attached car tech, as well as a 12.3-inch digital driver's display.
