Mahindra Delivers its First e-Verito to EESL under EV Tender

The company signed a tender to supply 150 e-Verito's to EESL.

Deliveries of the e-Verito sedan have commenced to Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) under the tender to supply electric vehicles for government use. The company is a few days ahead of schedule as the first car was supposed to be delivered by November 30, 2017.

This tender was the world’s single largest procurement of EVs and it was for a total of 10,000 cars. Mahindra will dispatch the first 500 vehicles in the first phase and the rest in the second phase. The company will send 150 e-Veritos as a part of the first phase and, at the same time, Tata Motors will supply 250 units of the electric Tigor, since Tata Motors had won the initial bid.

Going forward, Mahindra has the option to bid for up to 50 percent or 4,750 units of the remaining 9,500 vehicles due. Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric handed over the keys to Saurabh Kumar, MD of EESL in the presence of Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of Power and his team.
