Mahindra Thar AX and AX Standard Variant Sale Discontinued in India

Mahindra & Mahindra have removed the AX and AX Standard variants of the Thar from its official website

Mahindra & Mahindra has silently axed the base-level AX and AX Standard variants of the All-New Thar from its official website. The AX Petrol, AX Std Petrol, and the AX Diesel trims were priced at Rs 9.80 lakh, Rs 10.65 lakhs, and Rs 10.85 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom), respectively. Now the price of the All-New Mahindra Thar will begin from Rs 11.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Its price will go as high as Rs 13.75 lakhs (ex-showroom). 


Talking about the AX trim in detail, it was targeted at customers majorly interested in customizing the vehicle with their choice of wheels, off-road accessories, and infotainment system. The AX variant was further offered with side-facing seats, mechanical lockable differentials, and steel wheels. The top-end AX variants were equipped with a few premium features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steel wheels and taller profile tyres made it ideal for tackling hard terrain. Apart from these, Mahindra also offered a wide range of accessories such as additional body cladding, sound system, mud flaps, among others from the LX variant.

Under the bonnet, the New-Generation Mahindra Thar gets two engine options. A 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that churns out 130 bhp power and 320 Nm torque. While the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, mStallion petrol unit delivers a maximum power output of 150 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission options. The entry-level AX variant was offered only with a manual transmission. Furthermore, the SUV also gets four-wheel-drive with a manual-shift transfer case as a standard fitment across all variants.
