Maruti DZire was spotted with an emission testing kit and lowered rear suspension
Maruti Suzuki DZire is one of the most popular cars in the Indian market. The company is working towards expanding the variant line-up of the sedan by introducing CNG variants. Recently a mule of Maruti DZire was spotted with an emission testing kit and it is believed that it is the CNG version of the sedan. Maruti Suzuki had discontinued the diesel version of all its cars last year after the implementation of BS6 emission norms. Maruti DZire CNG will directly rival Hyundai Aura CNG (Rs 7.52 Lakhs) in the country.
Maruti Suzuki currently offers CNG versions of most of its cars like Alto, Celerio, Wagon-R, S-Presso, Eeco, Ertiga, Tour S and Super Carry LCV. It had retailed more than 1.57 Lakh units of factory-fitted CNG vehicles in FY 2020-21 in India. All the Maruti CNG cars boast of Dual Interdependent ECUs while the platform, suspension setup and braking system are also tweaked accordingly. Furthermore, the brand provides extended warranty of upto 5 years on all its CNG cars. Coming back to Maruti DZire CNG, it is likely to deliver less power output than the petrol-only variants which come equipped with a 1.2L 4-cylinder engine. It produces maximum power of 89 bhp and highest torque of 113 Nm.
Last year, Maruti Suzuki had introduced the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology in the Baleno hatch. It subsequently made its way to the DZire after a few months. Since the home-grown automaker doesn't retail diesel or all-electric cars in India, it feels that CNG is the best alternative fuel technology as it helps in preserving the climate by causing less pollution and at the same time, it is light on the pockets of the buyers as compared to diesel and all-electric cars. It intends to roll out over 3 Lakh factory-fitted CNG vehicles this year and hence, Maruti DZire CNG is expected to play an important role in achieving this goal of the company. We also expect the Swift hatchback to soon get a factory-fitted CNG kit.
