Maruti Suzuki India announced on Friday that its Ertiga MPV (Multi-purpose Vehicle) has achieved a sales milestone of 10 lakh units. The car has now become the fastest MPV to hit such a major milestone in the country. It is also the best-selling car in the MPV segment. The Ertiga MPV has more than 37 percent market share in the segment. The automaker unveiled the facelift version of the Ertiga in 2022.
The sales figures of the car have also been increasing, and on average, the automaker retails more than 10,000 Ertiga MPVs every month. The entry-level MPV brings in more sales for the company as it is also available in a CNG variant. Maruti Suzuki has sold 10 lakh units of the MPV in both rural and urban markets in India. The Senior Executive Officer of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India, Shashank Srivastava, said, “The Ertiga has redefined the concept of an MPV as a stylish and technologically advanced offering. It has become a preferred choice for young, tech-conscious customers who love spending time with family and friends. The modern appeal of the Ertiga has seen first-time customers for the MPV increase up to 41%, driven by a rise in younger urban customers. It’s also worth noting that 66% of the Ertiga buyers consider it as a pre-determined choice, cementing its picture-perfect appeal as a lifestyle family vehicle. The stylish, versatile and dependable Ertiga is a hit across the country in both urban and rural markets, with an impressive 37.5% segment market share.”
The Ertiga top-end variant is available at an initial price of INR 8.69 lakh, and it goes up to INR 13.03 lakh (ex-showroom). The MPV comes in four trims and 11 broad variants. Maruti offers the car in three AT options: ZXi+, VXi, and ZXi. The Ertiga CNG, on the other hand, comes in two variants, incorporating the top ZXi variant. In the MPV segment, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga rivals the likes of the Kia Carens and Renault Triber.
Under the skin, the Maruti Ertiga MPV is powered by a K-series 1.5-litre dual VVT engine that further improves the fuel efficiency of the MPV. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox, and it churns out power of 75.8 kW at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 136.8 Nm at 4400 rpm. The car comes with both AT and manual transmission options. In petrol and CNG variants, the Ertiga provides a certified mileage of 20.51 km/liter (petrol) and 26.11 km/kg (CNG).
The updated Ertiga version is loaded with safety features like rear parking sensors, driver and co-driver seat belt reminders, dual airbags, a speed alert system, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and second row ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
