The top-spec Ignis hatchback now comes fitted with an automated manual transmission, called Auto Gear Shift (AGS). The Ignis Alpha (AGS) petrol is priced at ₹7.01 lakh, while the Alpha (AGS) diesel costs ₹8.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new five-speed AMT is fitted to the car’s 1.2-litre petrol motor that puts out 83hp and 113Nm of peak torque, as well as the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine that makes 75hp and 190Nm of torque. Apart from the new gearbox, the hatch remains the same. The car comes fitted with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seats.

R S Kalsi, senior executive director (marketing and sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Our premium urban compact vehicle, the Ignis, has been created for millennials, a one of a kind brand in the Indian market. Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) on the Ignis, so far offered in the Delta and Zeta trims, has been widely appreciated by customers and accounts for 27 percent of Ignis sales. We are now offering AGS in the top Alpha trim as well. We expect this to strengthen brand Ignis and enhance the popularity of AGS amongst millennials.”
