The facelifted S-Cross is priced from ₹8.49 lakh (ex-showoom, Delhi).

Maruti has launched the updated S-Cross crossover at ₹8.49 lakh, with the top-spec Alpha variant priced at ₹11.29 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The New S-Cross continues to use the same 1.3-litre diesel engine but now gets Maruti’s smart hybrid system. The 1.6-litre diesel has now been discontinued.

On the outside, the biggest change is the boldly redesigned new face. The grille is new and gets a thick chrome surround and a vertical slat. The headlamps are new, and top-spec cars get LED projectors and also LED daytime running lamps. The bonnet and bumper have been redesigned as well.

The car gets wider tyres, new two-tone machine-finished alloy wheels and new LED tail lamps. On the inside, there’s new, piano-black trim on the centre console, satin chrome accents and soft-feel materials on the dash, and the central arm-rest gets a new leather finish. The touchscreen infotainment system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

There’s no more 1.6-litre diesel option, instead there’s a 1248cc diesel engine with mild-hybrid technology. The Ciaz and Ertiga use this engine and it produces 90hp and 200Nm in this car. You get a start-stop system, brake energy regeneration and there’s an Integrated Starter Generator motor. All variants come with safety features such as dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat mounts at the rear.

The Maruti S-Cross rivals the likes of the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Honda BR-V and the Hyundai Creta.
