Maruti Suzuki starts production of new edition of bestselling Indian SUV Vitara Brezza.

It was launched in 2016, and since then it has gone ahead and climbed all the way to the top of SUV sales charts in India. Yes, we are talking about the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza that has long since been a bestseller for the brand. Although what is noticeable now is that the sub-4-meter compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki has not received any update ever since it was launched, which means that it has been 3 years since the SUV was updated.

However now reports on the internet suggest that production of a new facelifted version of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is already underway. This can be a major indication of how close the launch of the Vitara Brezza’s facelifted model is. The new facelifted model of Brezza is supposed to bring a lot of changes to the looks of the SUV. Maruti’s sub 4-meter compact SUV may come with a tweaked grille and revised bumpers. There is a possibility of LED headlamps being offered as well, however the SUV’s silhouette will not change. Interiors could be freshened up with new upholstery and updated infotainment system. The company may also introduce new design alloy wheels on their sub compact SUV.

The reports also go ahead to state that the company has already manufactured nearly 5,000 models of the facelifted SUV, this could have been done in order to reduce the waiting time on the updated Brezza once it is launched. The new Brezza will likely start arriving to the dealerships in April 2019. India’s largest automaker currently offers their Vitara Brezza only with a 1.3-liter diesel engine in the market. This Fiat-sourced engine cannot be updated to meet the emission norms set to kick in next year. Therefore, there is a high probability that we may get to see the facelifted model of Brezza arrive with the new 1.5-liter diesel engine that the brand has developed in-house and recently launched with Ciaz sedan. Although there is no update on the petrol engine front so far, it might just make an appearance with the facelift of the SUV. As far as gearbox is concerned the Brezza currently comes equipped with a manual and an AMT option, but the brand might want to upgrade the driving experience and bring the better conventional automatic option on their upcoming sub-4-meter compact SUV.

The rivalry in the sub-4-meter compact segment is already at the peak with the Vitara Brezza being the best seller in the segment but facing stiff competition from Mahindra TUV300, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and all-new Mahindra XUV300. Things will get even more heated up when the new entrant in the segment from South Korean carmaker Hyundai Venue will be launched in the coming months.
