Maruti Ciaz is one of the best-selling cars in the Indian market since its launch in 2014. However, things are not the same in our neighbouring country Pakistan as it is being discontinued due to low sales. CarSpiritPK has reported that Pakistan will not get the facelifted model of the sedan and the older model will be phased out as the demand is continuously getting lower. For those asking, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is sold as CBU in Pakistan from Thailand not India, despite our country being the closest market to it geographically.
The Pakistan-spec Maruti Ciaz is imported from Thailand where it is developed at the company's Rayong facility. One of the primary reasons for the sedan not performing well in the country is that it was never marketed earnestly by Suzuki's Pakistan unit. The other reason why it failed to make a mark in the Islamic nation is because it lacked several important features like alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, reverse camera, steering-mounted audio controls. In addition, it misses out on several other modern features which are available with the Thailand-spec and India-spec model. So, the two aforementioned reasons are attributed for the discontinuation of the sedan in Pakistan.
The Pakistan-spec Suzuki Ciaz is available only in petrol fuel trim with a naturally aspirated 1.4L 4-cylinder K14B VVT engine which develops a top power of 92bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 130Nm at 4000rpm. The transmission choices available are a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic unit. The company had already introduced the Ciaz facelift in Thailand in March this year but it will not be introduced in Pakistan. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz price in Pakistan is PKR 23 Lakhs (around Rs 10.88 Lakhs) for the manual transmission variant and PKR 25 Lakhs (around Rs 11.83 Lakhs) for the automatic gearbox variant. It rivals the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento.
