Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that it has sold more than 1 Lakh factory-fitted CNG vehicles in the Indian market in FY 2019-20. It is the highest ever sales of CNG cars for the company in a fiscal year. The factory-fitted CNG kits were being firstly launched around a decade back in 2010 while the Smart Hybrid technology was introduced in 2015. Maruti Suzuki has cumulatively sold over 1 million 'Green Vehicles' in India till now. As for FY 2019-20, it sold a total of 106,443 factory-fitted CNG vehicles across India.
Speaking on the importance of CNG vehicles in its portfolio, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The growth of CNG vehicles complements the Government of India’s vision of reducing oil import and enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country from 6.2% now to 15% by 2030. The Government is working to rapidly increase the CNG fuel pumps network in the country. There has been a phenomenal growth in the number of CNG stations in the last six years with over 50% of growth coming in the last year alone. With the government's clear focus, the spread of CNG stations is set to increase significantly. Maruti Suzuki is aligned with Government’s vision by strengthening and expanding its CNG product portfolio."

Maruti Suzuki's factory-fitted CNG kits are safe and secure. They come with warranty benefits and owners are also assisted by Maruti Suzuki service network across India. The company’s S-CNG technology is equipped with Dual Interdependent ECU with Intelligent Injection System which ensures higher mileage. It has witnessed 15.5 percent CAGR increase in its CNG sales in the past five years. Presently, Maruti Suzuki CNG-powered cars are Alto, WagonR, Eeco, Tour S, Ertiga and Super Carry in the Indian market. The company had unveiled 'Mission Green Million' at Auto Expo 2020 whereby it has aimed to sell the next set of million green vehicles at a much faster pace.
