Maruti Suzuki India Limited will be expanding its car ‘Subscription’ services to 19 cities across India. To begin with, the automaker is now offering subscription-based ownership programmes in four new cities - Jaipur, Indore, Mangalore, and Mysore. Talking about Maruti Suzuki Subscribe, it was introduced last year in July. Initially, it was made available in Bengaluru and Gurugram. By December, the subscription service was expanded to cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Maruti has launched a marketplace model for Maruti Suzuki Subscribe which will further serve as a unified platform to offer customised car subscription products at competitive rates through multiple partners. Basically, under this subscription programme, interested buyers can enjoy owning a car without purchasing it. This means a customer can opt from a range of MSIL vehicles against payment of a monthly fee depending on the duration of the subscription. The monthly fee will include the vehicle usage charges, maintenance, insurance, registration charges, and other common services related to vehicle usage. Once the tenure period is over, the customer gets a choice of either switching over to a new car or availing of the option of purchasing the subscribed car. Besides these, the customer also gets an option to close the subscription at any given point in time.
“Car subscription is a new and upcoming concept for the Indian market. We are regularly upgrading our Subscribe programme with learnings and feedback from customers. The marketplace model will offer more power to customers to select from a bouquet of options, as per their requirements. This will lead to competitive price offerings coupled with transparency of the process. With the addition of four new cities in our network, we look forward to serving more customers,” as commented by Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) Maruti Suzuki India.
Moving on, the customers can opt for tenures between 12-48 months. They have the option to get their vehicle with a white plate registered in their own name or a black plate registered in the subscription partner’s name i.e Orix, Miles or ALD. Talking about the white plate subscription, the tenure options include 12, 24, 36, or 48 months and the annual kilometre options include 10,000 km, 15,000 km, 20,000 km and 25,000 km. The black plate subscription, on the other hand, comes with tenure options of 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, or 48 months and annual kilometre options of 10,000 km, 15,000 km, 18,000 km and 25,000 km.
This subscription service is not applicable to all Maruti Suzuki cars. It is limited to Maruti Suzuki Swift, DZire, WagonR, Ertiga, and Vitara Brezza from the Arena models. While Ignis, Baleno, XL6, Ciaz & S-cross from the Nexa range.
