India's largest automaker Maruti Suzuki is all prepared to launch their upmarket MUV -- XL6 -- in the Indian market on 21 August. While there have been many information reveals about the MUV so far, the recent development has seen the brochure of the MUV being leaked on the internet. This brochure leak reveals almost everything about the upcoming premium version of Ertiga MPV. As we already know, Maruti Suzuki will keep the price of the XL6 at a higher level than the current Ertiga sold in the market. Unlike the Ertiga which is sold via Arena dealerships, the upcoming XL6 will be sold via the more premium NEXA dealership of the brand. The bookings for the MUV have already been opened by the company and the booking amount has been set at Rs. 11,000. The booking for the upcoming MUV can be made via a walk-in in the NEXA dealerships or via the online route as well.
As we have already informed you, the dimensions of the XL6 will change when compared to the Ertiga MPV. Although there will be no change in the wheelbase of the XL6, the height of the XL6 will increase by 10mm. Similar changes can be seen in other dimensions of the MUV as well, as the length of the MUV will increase by 50 mm and width will grow by 40 mm as compared to the Ertiga MPV. All of this combined will translate into larger cabin space for the upcoming MUV. As far as the variants of the XL6 are concerned, the company will sell it in two variants -- Zeta and Alpha. The XL6’s Zeta variant will be based on the Ertiga’s Z variant and the XL6 Alpha will be based on the Ertiga Z+ variant. The XL6 Alpha will also be the range topping variant. The option of automatic transmission will be offered on both variants of the XL6. The company will also sell the XL6 in a total of 6 shades which will include 0-- Blue, Khaki, Red, Grey, Silver, and White.
The MUV has a more aggressive stance, something that looks like a cross between SUV and MPV, with leanings toward the latter. Talking of the front side of the new premium Ertiga, the front also carries an aggressive look, courtesy the redesigned grille along with the LED elements in the headlamp. This does lends the MUV a look not unlike the Toyota Innova Crysta, but we'll leave the judgement part for that up to the customers. Other exterior highlights include a new front grille, bumper inserts at the front and rear, cladding on the sides, new alloy wheels, roof rails and more cladding on the hatch lid.
In order to keep the cabin spacious and more upmarket Maruti will offer six seats on the XL6. These seats will be offered in the 2-2-2 layout and will comprise of captain seats in the middle row. The new XL6 is also supposed to be more premium from inside. Apart from the increased space and the presence of captain seats in the MUV, one can see the usage of premium materials like leather inside the car. The shades of black and plum in leather will definitely add to the appeal of the XL6 in the Indian market. The SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment interface is carried over from the Ertiga, and will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The company will equip the upcoming XL6 with a SHVS mild-hybrid 1.5L petrol engine rated to deliver 104 Bhp and 138 Nm. This petrol mill will come paired to a 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The expected starting price of the XL6 is likely to be in the sub-10 lakh range and the deliveries will begin at the time of the launch itself.
