One of the most selling cars in India scored 2-stars in GNCAP tests.

Maruti Vitara Brezza performed well in the recent GNCAP tests scoring 4-stars. While on the other hand, the latest generation Maruti Swift which is one of the most selling cars in India scored a low 2-star rating.

High compression at the driver’s chest region, unstable structure and poor feet protection for driver caused the low result. The result was a bit shocking considering the fact that the entire Swift range gets dual front airbags and ISOFIX child seats as standard.

Both Child and Adult Occupant Protection got 2-stars. The model which is being sold in the European market scored well because they come with side and curtain airbags along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC). These features are not even provided as an option in our domestic market. These results along with the mandatory safety policies of the government will push the manufacturers to provide safer cars in our market.
