Maruti Suzuki Swift has been digitally rendered as a crossover hatchback

Maruti Swift has always been one of the most popular hatchbacks in the Indian market. It has been selling in the country for the last 14 years. Since its launch, Maruti has sold over 23 lakh units of the model in India. Along with a fuel-efficient engine, it offers spacious interiors and amazing features at an affordable price. Since the entire Indian market is gravitating towards the SUVs and crossovers, automakers are busy adding them up to their lineup. Maruti too has a few in its product lineup. Talking about the Swift then it could be a great addition to Maruti’s crossover range. Recently, Maruti Swift has been digitally imagined as a crossover hatchback. The digital renders of the same have been leaked online.

As per the digital renders, the model sports a new blacked-out bumper with a bash plate underneath upfront. In addition, it gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs and LED indicators. No changes have been made to the front grille and fog lamp housing. On the sides, it gets black plastic cladding along with skid plates below the doors. Furthermore, the hatchback also features a new set of alloy wheels and functional roof rails on the top.

The digital renders of the Swift as a crossover hatchback do not make it look entirely different from the regular model. However, the additional design elements give it a distinct look. The hatchback gets an aggressive look along with a sporty appeal. It will be great to see Maruti introduce such a vehicle in the Indian market but the chances are quite low.

Under the bonnet, the standard Maruti Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 83 bhp and a peak torque of 113 Nm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a 5-speed AMT gearbox as an option.
