Maruti Suzuki will start the production of its first-ever electric vehicle in 2024. Maruti is one of India’s leading auto manufacturers, and it is all set to unveil the new eVX after making its mark with its premium cars in the Indian market. The company announced on Wednesday that the eVX electric SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor’s Gujarat facility sometime in 2024.
The eVX electric SUV was first revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo, which was held in January. Later, the company showcased the upgraded version of the eVX electric during the 2023 Japan Auto Show. After its launch, this EV will give tough competition to EVs like the Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Tata Harrier EV.

The new eVX will be constructed at the Hansalpur facility located in Gujarat. The automaker said that this EV will also be launched on the international market and manufactured at the same facility. The company manufactures some of its best models at this plant, including Fronx, Baleno, Dzire, and Swift. Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Ltd. is in charge of the Gujarat facility.
The eVX electric SUV will be one of the very first EVs in the compact sports utility vehicle segment in the country. It measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,600 mm in height, and 1,800 mm in width. On one charge, the eVX can provide a range of 550 km. It will come equipped with a 60-kWh lithium-ion battery pair.
Maruti eVX electric will get a futuristic design with DRL units, a closed front grille, a sporty alloy design, connected LED taillights, and an LED headlight. Inside the cabin, it will come with a sleek dashboard, a bigger digital twin-screen that doubles as the infotainment system and driver display, a dual-spoke steering wheel, touch-based mounted controls, and many more.
Suzuki Motor signed a deal with the Gujarat government earlier this year to invest INR 3,000 crore to build EVs. The Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Rahul Bharti, stated that, “Our first EV, an SUV, will be launched in the next financial year of 2024-25. It will come out from SMG’s Gujarat plant. At present, the entire SMG facility at Hansalpur has three plants A, B, and C. Now to manufacture the EV, a new plant, also called a production line, will be added there.”
