Maruti XL5 or WagonR facelift to get subtle exterior and interior changes.

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota partnership have given us some exemplary products like Glanza and Urban Cruiser. The former is the rebadged version of Maruti Baleno and the latter is the rebadged Brezza. Besides these, WagonR is also likely to be added to the rebadge list anytime soon. Recently, the WagonR facelift in its production-ready format was caught on the camera doing test runs. It is believed that this new variant of WagonR will be called XL5 once launched in the market. The spy shots of the same as captured by MRD Cars have been leaked online.

As per the spy shots, the facelifted WagonR gets an all-new front fascia. Upfront, it features a new grille. In addition, the hatchback gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs and a new set of bumpers. The test mule further features fog lamps that are integrated into the lower radiator grille. The side profile of the upcoming WagonR facelift remains similar to its predecessor. However, the rear end of the test mule gets minor changes in terms of a new bumper design with a two-tone look. The rest of the features remain unchanged. From the images, we could make out that the alloy wheels have been borrowed from the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and it features a Toyota centre cap. The test mule is also seen wearing a Toyota badge.

Moving inside the cabin of the XL5 or the WagonR facelift, it comes with subtle changes. It might receive a dark color scheme and will get more premium fittings to set it apart from the outgoing model. Furthermore, it is being speculated that the XL5 or the WagonR facelift could be the first electric model from the brand. As for the engine options, it will continue to use the same 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol units that power the outgoing WagonR. The former delivers 67 bhp power and 90 Nm peak torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the latter churns out a maximum power of 82 bhp and a peak torque of 113 Nm. The transmission option here includes a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
