British sportscar maker McLaren is all set to replace its 650S sportscar with a new model which is likely to be revealed at the Geneva motor show in March this year. The car has been spotted testing before its official unveiling.
McLaren is tight-lipped about the car’s name, but what is known is that, internally, the model is called the P14, and that it will be a part of the company’s future Super Series. Images of the test car reveal a front end that’s much sharper looking than the 650S. It features a prominent aerodynamic bodywork along the side, and the car’s roofline is also quite different from that of the outgoing car. It sports a new carbon-fibre tub frame and gets dihedral scissor doors, like on earlier Lamborghinis and the P1 hypercar.
The model is likely to use a McLaren-developed turbocharged V8 engine that’s likely to be bigger than the current car’s 3.8-litre engine and so, it’s expected to produce more power than the 675LT’s 675hp. The 0-100kph time for the car is also likely to be under three seconds, while top-speed is expected to be in excess of 330kph.
