The car will come with quite a few design updates as well.

The German carmaker is readying the next-gen GLE SUV, based on the same all-new MRA platform, for launch.

The next-gen GLEs will feature a redesigned nose, a more prominent bonnet and new headlights.  The grille will remain but the new wheel arch lips will give it a more rugged stance and the SUV’s shorter front overhang suggests that it may have a longer wheelbase. The tail-lamps are also expected to be redesigned.

The next high-performance Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 will be powered by AMG's twin-turbocharged 'hot vee' V8 engine, which will replace the older 5.5-litre unit. The 4.0-litre V8 puts out a whopping 585hp and is more efficient than the 5.5-litre motor.

For the non-AMG range, updated turbocharged four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will feature. There could be a new hybrid option as well.

The next-gen GLE will rival the likes of the 2018 Porsche Macan and the facelifted Range Rover Sport when it goes on sale here.
