Mercedes AMG A45 S to be Launched in India this Diwali

Mercedes AMG A45 S boasts of the most powerful four-cylinder series production engine in the world.

Mercedes Benz is all set to launch the AMG A45 S in the country this diwali. With this, the A-Class hatchback will be reintroduced in India. So far, the A-Class was only available in sedan body style. The new-gen Mercedes Benz A45 was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2019. It further boasts of the world's most powerful four-cylinder series engine under the hood. The hottest hatch of India will not have any direct rival in the domestic market. It will be imported as a CBU. Hence, we can expect it to be priced slightly higher than the Mercedes AMG A35.

In terms of design, the upcoming AMG A45 S will be slightly different from the currently available AMG A35. Having said this, the hot hatch gets a more aggressive look. Upfront, it flaunts the AMG Panamericana grille. In addition, it gets new bumpers with large air intakes & integrated splitter, aero elements, dual twin-exit exhaust, a roof mounted rear wing, and 19-inch AMG-specific alloy wheels. Dimensionally, the new AMG A45 S is going to be 54mm wider than the A35. Moving inside the cabin of the AMG A45 S, it remains more or less the same. However, it does get subtle updates in terms of aggressive-looking sports seats. Moving on, the twin 10.25-inch displays are positioned on the dashboard.

Performance-wise, the upcoming AMG A45 S will pack in a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that churns out a top power of 420 bhp and a peak torque of 500 Nm. Transmission duty will be taken care of by an 8-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that will further deliver the power to all four wheels via the 4Matic AWD system. Furthermore, the automaker claims that the hot hatch can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in a mere 3.9 seconds. The vehicle can achieve a top speed of 270 kmph. In terms of the brakes, the AMG A45 S comes equipped with 360mm discs with 6 piston calipers upfront and 330mm rotors towards the rear.
