Three versions of AMG's four-door to be on offer initially.

Mercedes-AMG took the wraps off its latest production model, the GT 4-door Coupé. The top-of-the-line GT63 S 4Matic+ uses a 639hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine and can hit 100kph from rest in just 3.2sec. The car goes on to hit a top speed of 315kph.

The GT 4-door Coupé is the fifth dedicated model from Mercedes-AMG. The car’s design takes inspiration from the existing GT Coupé and comes with a fastback-style tailgate. That design gives it a hint of practicality that the company’s chairman, Tobias Moers, says allows it to offer a “high level of day-to-day suitability”.

The GT 4-door Coupé has two petrol options – one is a new 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder unit with a mild-hybrid system in the GT53 4Matic+ and the other is AMG’s 4.0-litre V8 will be available in the GT63 4Matic+ and GT63 S 4Matic+ in separate states of tune. There could be other engines on offer as well in the near future.

The interior will have its own unique styling touches and four-seat layout. It will also feature Mercedes’ Widescreen Cockpit, with dual high-definition displays for the instruments and infotainment functions in the dash.

Mercedes-Benz could bring the GT 4-door Coupe to India once production of right-hand-drive models commences.
