The car will be unveiled at the Detroit motor show (NAIAS) in January, 2018.

The German carmaker has shown us what the inside of its G-Class off-roader will look like ahead of its Detroit motor show unveiling. The car, according to the company, provides greater comfort, technology and usable space for occupants while not abandoning its utilitarian origins.

The SUV, codenamed ‘W464’, will be fully unveiled at the Detroit motor and Mercedes has confirmed that it will retain the cars boxy shape.

The overhauled G-class will be wider than the current model, providing more space in the cabin as well. You can easily see the influence the company's sedans have had on the design of the cabin - there's a multi-function steering wheel, electric handbrake and the gear selector stalk mounted on the steering column.

You will get an analogue instrument panel as standard, but a ‘virtual’ display is available as an option. The rear seats are adjustable in nine different angles and they also fold flat to increase storage in the boot.

Very few parts have been carried over from the outgoing G-class but the car will continue to be as good off-road, if not better. It will also be more luxurious and offer a range of customisation.
