The car pays homage to the speed record-holding prototype from 1938.

The EQ Silver Arrow, a 750hp figurehead for the German carmaker’s new EQ electric sub-brand, is inspired by Merc’s streamlined high-speed record breakers from the 1930s.

The 5300mm-long single seater was revealed at the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance. The car pays homage to the 80-year-old W125 Rekordwagen – a teardrop-shaped prototype that was powered by a 735hp 5.6-litre V12 petrol engine that managed to hit 433kph in Germany back in 1938. This car will be a one-off and is based on an extended version of Mercedes-Benz’s new MEA (modular electric architecture) platform.

The EQ Silver Arrow features a single seat cockpit and the wood and leather-lined interior takes on a futuristic appearance on this car. It features a large main digital display and steering wheel with a secondary display.

The Silver Arrow will run a pure electric drivetrain developing up to 738bhp.
