MG Motor introduced industry-first Car-as-a-Platform subscription model with its newly launched Astor SUV

MG Motor India introduced the ‘Car-as-a-Platform’ (CAAP) subscription model with its recently launched MG Astor SUV. This subscription model comes with endless possibilities and software as a disruptor along with a host of service partners in the SUV. The British automaker has partnered with Jio for embedded sim and technology. The aim is to provide high-speed in-car connectivity.

Talking about in detail, Jio’s e-Sim and IoT solutions will basically allow the MG users to access real-time connectivity, infotainment, and telematics. Besides that, customers can easily tune into their favorite music via the in-built Jio Saavn app. Having said this, you get access to 60 million Bollywood, English, Hindi, and Indian regional tracks on the go, including podcasts. Moving on, customers will also get a free 4GB monthly internet pack which can further be customized up to 9 GB and 14 GB at an additional cost.

“Staying ahead of the innovation curve in the automobile industry in India, MG continues to introduce industry-first features in the Auto-tech segment with Car-as-a-Platform. We announced the CAAP vision in August and now we are incorporating the subscription-based model in Astor. Our constant endeavour is to evolve CAAP for providing innovative services in line with fast-changing requirements of new-age consumers by collaborating with more ecosystem partners,” as commented by Rajeev Chaba, President, and MD, MG Motor India.

In addition, MG has also partnered with Park+ to enhance the driving experience with Astor. With this feature, you can pre-book and prepay for parking slots before reaching your destination. This feature is available in three cities - NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore, as of now. However, the automaker plans to expand to up to 9 cities in the future. Furthermore, as a part of the inaugural offer, customers will have access to unlimited free parking for three months followed by additional six months at a whopping cost of Rs 1199. Moving on, the British automaker has also partnered with KoineArth in order to create India’s first-of-its-kind vehicle digital passport. KoineArth is secured by blockchain and it ensures data privacy. It also facilitates customers sharing their digital passports with third parties like insurance partners or used car portals. One can avail of the digital passport at Rs 1000 for the first year as a part of the inaugural offer.
