MG Motor India is all set to launch the Gloster SUV tomorrow in the Indian market. This will be the fourth product from the company after Hector, ZS EV, and Hector Plus. Recently, the company released a video on its official YouTube channel. Spy images of the premium SUV had also surfaced online giving us an idea of what it will be like. We can expect the SUV to fall in the price range of Rs 40 lakhs - Rs 45 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The front fascia of MG Gloster SUV will get a bold look due to the octagonal grille with chrome slats, LED headlamps with DRLs, and LED fog lights. Its rear end will boast of LED tail-lights and a dual-tone rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. On the sides, it will get 21-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Other design highlights include quad-tip exhaust and roof-rails. The SUV will also cater to ‘Gloster’ lettering on the boot lid.
The upcoming Gloster will come equipped with a plethora of features. It will get a floating 12.3-inch touchscreen unit compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin is likely to boast of dual-tone upholstery with diamond stitching. The dashboard layout will be similar to the one present in BMW models. Other feature highlights will include iSmart Connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, a separate rear differential lock button with Borg Warner Transfer Case, engine start/stop button, and multi-zone climate control among others. The SUV will get ventilated front seats while the second-row will provide captain seat. It will also get a drive mode selector to opt between Rocky, Sand, Mud, or Snow. The automatic variants will get a yacht-style gear selector. MG Gloster will ensure uncompromised safety. The SUV will therefore cater to a shift-on-fly 4WD system, adaptive cruise control, auto park assist, front collision warning system, rain departure warning, and blind-spot detection among many others.
Under the bonnet, the upcoming Gloster SUV will get both petrol and diesel engine options. First, is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that will generate a maximum power of 224 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with a 6-speed automatic transmission as an option. There will also be a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel powerplant. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It will belt out 218 bhp power and 480 Nm torque. Apart from these, the SUV gets an on-demand-four-wheel drive and a five link integral rear suspension.
