MG Motors India is all set to launch its full-sized SUV Gloster soon into the Indian market. The SUV has been teased a number of times in the past. Recently, the company released a teaser video of the premium SUV on its official twitter handle thus confirming the launch. Now the company has released another video on its You Tube channel. This video reveals the car’s Auto Parking Assist feature.

Talking about this feature, then it will allow the SUV to park itself without any driver intervention. Due to the presence of an Auto Park Assist feature, MG Gloster will have level 1 autonomous driving capability. Also, the feature works a lot like the one present in high-end cars like BMW. If you ask how it works? Then as seen in the video, the feature first needs to be activated using a button on the centre console. Once it has been activated, it will look for a free parallel parking spot. On finding adequate space, the feature will intimate the driver to stop the vehicle. Having done that, now the driver will have to put the gear selector into reverse following which the SUV will steer itself into the free parking spot. However, the driver will still need to apply brakes as and when required and select forward drive as well in order to complete the parking manoeuvre.

Apart from this feature, the SUV will also come equipped with segment-first emergency autonomous braking and adaptive cruise control. The teaser video also revealed the interior details of the Gloster. We could easily make out the captain seat in the middle row along with plush upholstery. There was also a semi-digital instrument cluster with a color TFT display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

MG Gloster Interior Speed

The MG Gloster will be based on Maxus D90 that is sold in China. Globally, the SUV will draw its power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 220 bhp power and 360 Nm torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. There is also a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine included in the package that belts out 212 bhp of maximum power output with 480 nm of torque. Here the engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. As for the upcoming India-spec Gloster, we expect it to get both these engine options. MG Gloster is likely to be launched during this festive season. The starting price of the SUV is expected to be around Rs 40 lakhs (ex-showroom).
