The China-based SAIC Motors owned British manufacturer made a stunning debut in the Indian automobile market with Hector SUV. Hector has now paved the path for the company to showcase and unveil new models to capture a slice of the market. MG just unveiled the Gloster SUV today for the Indian market at the 2020 Auto Expo.
Gloster is a rebadged version of the Maxus D90 and will rival the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V. Dimension wise, it will be one of the biggest SUVs in the Indian market with 5,005 mm in length, 1,932 mm in width and 1,875 mm in height. MG Gloster will come in two fuel trims- petrol and diesel. The petrol engine will be a 2.0L turbocharged unit that can generate a maximum power of 220 bhp and the highest torque of 360 Nm. The diesel engine will also have displacement of 2.0L but will benefit from a twin-turbo setup. It will produce a maximum power of 218bhp and a peak torque of 480 Nm. Transmission options will have both a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed torque-converter automatic unit.
The SUV is designed to give the Indian consumers a comfortable experience in riding and traveling with features such as 21-inch alloy wheels, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility with the 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree monitor etc. to name a few.
