MG Hector has been on sale in the Indian market for close to two years now. Our friends at AutoCar India have learnt that the company is planning to introduce a facelifted version of the SUV by early 2021 in the country. MG Hector facelift will come with a few design updates and some new features while there will be no changes to the engine and transmission department. It has been the best-selling model for MG in India ever since its launch in June 2019. The SUV takes on the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Honda CR-V in the Indian market.
Speaking of the MG Hector facelift, it will have a redesigned front fascia which will include a fresh grille. The front grille will have horizontal louvres which will resemble a lot to the South American-spec Hector. Just so you all know, the Hector is sold in the South American market as Chevrolet Captiva. Another big update to the Hector facelift will be the inclusion of 18-inch alloys in place of the current model's 17-inch wheels. The cabin is expected to be finished in a dual tone upholstery which we have seen with the recently launched Hector Plus. The report further adds that the 2021 MG Hector will auto-dimming interior rear view mirror (IRVM) as standard feature.
As we have already stated above, it is highly unlikely that MG would make any updates in the mechanicals of the facelifted SUV. It will continue to draw power from the same set of BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5L petrol mild hybrid engine will also be continued. As far as transmission choices are concerned, the 6-speed manual will be at the helm of affairs as standard while the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic unit will be exclusive to the petrol range. MG Hector facelift price will be a bit higher than the current model range which comes in a bracket of Rs 12.84–18.09 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The official launch with price announcement could take place next month with deliveries starting by February 2021.
