MG Motor India has made waves in the Indian automotive market with new launches this year. Hector Plus and Gloster SUV's arrived in the country this year at a competitive prices and are loaded to the brim. Now MG is offering discounts for the first time on Hector, Hector Plus and ZS EV models in the country. These offers and benefits would vary from dealership to dealership. Plus it totally depends on the variant selected of the particular model mentioned under the scheme. Dealers have shied away from offering any discount on the recently launched Gloster SUV in India.
Moving on to the discount offers, MG Hector was launched at a starting price of Rs 12.48 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) last year in June 2019. The manual trim gets a discount of Rs 16,000 while the automatic variant receives a discount of Rs 10,000 according to a dealer source. The SUV crossed 50,000 bookings in just 8 months of its launch. Hector comes with two engine options - a 1.2-litre petrol and 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel. The former delivers 143 bhp power output and 250 Nm of peak torque while the latter belts out 170 bhp of maximum power output with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT in petrol while the diesel model only offers a 6-speed manual gearbox.
As for MG Hector Plus, it was launched in July earlier this year at a starting price of Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The manufacturer had hiked the prices of the model by Rs 50,000 within a few weeks of its introduction. The six-seater SUV comes with a discount of Rs 16,000 and Rs 10,000 on manual and automatic trims respectively. It is retailed with the 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine options. The brand is further waiving off additional AMC (annual maintenance costs) worth Rs 15,000 on the Hector Plus.
While MG ZS EV is priced between the range of Rs 20.88 lakh to Rs 23.58 lakh (ex-showroom), India and is available in two variants namely Excite and Exclusive. It attracts a discount of up to Rs 40,000 and its annual maintenance costs (AMC) has also been waived off for 3 years. The fully-electric SUV is powered by a 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 141 bhp of power output and 353 Nm of peak torque.
