MG Motor India has finally launched the Hector Plus at an introductory price of Rs 13.49 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India). Being available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims, it is available in four trim levels: Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The current pricing will be applicable till August 13, post which the SUV will see a hike of Rs 50,000 in the overall pricing. The 6-seater SUV will take on the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and the yet-to-be-launched Tata Gravitas in the Indian market. It comes with a handful of cosmetic updates over the standard Hector SUV.
As for styling, MG Hector Plus comes with new LED headlamps with DRLs upfront. In fact, the bumper and the front grille have been revised in order to differentiate it from the regular Hector. At the rear end, the tail-lamp cluster and bumper have been modified too. Boasting of a three-row configuration with captain seats in the middle row, the Hector Plus comes with brown leatherette upholstery as compared to the all-black cabin layout of Hector. Some of the key features include panoramic sunroof, front parking sensors, powered front seats and a hands-free opening function for the tailgate. The Hector Plus debuts 'Chit-Chat' voice command feature with the 10.4-inch iSmart touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
As far as safety features are concerned, the SUV is equipped with six airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill-hold assist, a tyre pressure monitor and a 360-degree camera. Mechanically, it is available with all the four powertrain-transmission choices of the Hector. The diesel variants draw power from the BS6 compliant 2.0L engine which develops 170bhp with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variants are powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with top power of 141bhp. It is on offer with both a 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT automatic transmission. The aforementioned 1.5L petrol engine can also be availed with a 48V mild-hybrid system with similar power output and a 6-speed manual unit.
MG Hector Plus is being offered with the MG Shield package which includes a standard 5-year and unlimited kilometre warranty, 5-year roadside assistance and 5 free services. The claimed cost of running for the SUV is 45 paise per kilometer for the petrol variants and 60 paise per kilometers for the diesel ones.
