The MG Hector Plus has now come into the Indian market, the six-seater SUV is priced at Rs 13.48 lakhs (ex-showroom), India. In a segment that is dominated by Toyota Innova Crysta, the Mg Hector Plus would try to carve a niche for itself and thereby grab some about of market share in its initial days. Though different in terms of pricing, the MG Hector Plus and Toyota Innova Crysta come togther for an interesting comparison. The Hector Plus is new with a lot of bells and whistles while the Innova Cysta is the tried and tested with its on set of loyal customers. Both offer third row of seats and ample of comfort, let us now dive straight into the comparsion of MG Hector Plus vs Toyota Innova Crysta on parameters like Price, Variants, Engine Specifications and Safety Features.
Like we said, price isn't really a comparison out here but since we are talking about a new entrant into the MPV segment, it becomes important to compare it with the market leader. Thus recently launched MG Hector Plus is priced between the range of Rs 13.48 lakhs to Rs 18.53 lakhs. Meanwhile, the Toyota Innova Crysta has an introductory price of Rs 15.66 lakhs with the top-end model costing Rs 23.63 lakhs. All the prices mentioned here are (ex-showroom), India.
The MG Hector Plus is offered in four variants
Whereas the Toyota Innova Crysta is offered in 11 variants in the Indian market
MG Hector Plus comes with three powertrain options. First is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 170bhp of maximum power and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Second is a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 141bhp of maximum power output. Here the engine is paired to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT automatic transmission. While there is also a 1.5 litre petrol being offered with 48V mild-hybrid system with the same power output as the normal petrol variant and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Toyota Innova Crysta in this case stands to provide two engine options - a 2.7-litre petrol and 2.4-litre diesel. The petrol engine delivers 163.72 bhp of maximum power output with 245 Nm of peak torque. As for the diesel engine, it churns out 147.94 bhp and 343 Nm of torque. The transmission options include 5-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed automatic stick.
When we compare both these MPV's in dimentions, the MG Hector Plus measures 4,695mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760 mm in height. It is the Innova Crysta that is longer than Hector Plus as it measures 4,735mm in length. While the Innova Crysta's width is almost the same at 1,830mm and its height stands at 1,795mm. Both Hector Plus and Innova Crysta's wheelbase is equal standing at 2,750 mm.
Hector Plus Sharp is the top-end variant. MG Hector Plus Sharp is packed with safety features like six airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Control), Traction Control, ABS ( Anti-Lock Braking System) with EDM, 3-point seatbelts for all six passengers and a reverse parking camera. Whereas as the Toyota Innova Crysta’s top-end trim is equipped with safety equipment like seven airbags, Hill Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), ISOFIX and Anti-Theft System.
