MG Motor India announced that it had sold 4,485 MG units in India in April 2024. The manufacturer recorded 34 percent sales growth last month that came solely from electric vehicles. As of now, the auto marque has two electric vehicles in its lineup: the Comet EV and the ZS EV. The brand’s ICE range includes Hector, Gloster, Astor, and Hector Plus. The company witnessed a year-on-year decline of 1.4 percent this year in comparison to 4,551 units sold in April 2023. However, sales in April 2024 decreased by 3.5 percent month over month compared to the 4,648 vehicles sold in March 2024.
MG currently holds the second-highest market share after Tata Motors in the electric four-wheeler market. The automaker updated its electric vehicle lineup with the new ZS EV back in February. MG also made a few changes to the Comet EV. The Exclusive FC and Excite FC trims of the MG Comet EV now come equipped with fast chargers. The MG ZS electric vehicle also gets two new variants: the Executive and Excite Pro. The Executive Pro is the latest base trim, whereas the Excite Pro is the middle-spec trim.

MG Motor India rolled out the Hector Blackstorm edition on the Indian market in April 2024. The new edition is priced between INR 21.24 lakh and INR 22.75 lakh (ex-showroom). According to the company, the 2024 Hector Blackstorm has captured the attention of several SUV enthusiasts across India. The brand has been receiving several bookings for its new black edition.
The company revealed its plans to expand its network into rural areas and Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities nationwide last month. The auto marque is all set to set up 100 new touch points across India by the end of 2024 to improve accessibility and increase brand awareness among consumers. MG’s upcoming outlets will offer digital configurators, the latest MG models, and after-sales support, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for customers.
The Chief Commercial Officer of MG Motor India, Satinder Singh Bajwa, said, "We are working towards introducing 100 new MG dealerships this year, tailored particularly for rural and Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities."
Company boss, Mike Flewitt, said that the hypercar’s successor will take performance to the next level.
