After Hector, MG planning to launch 4 more SUVs in India.

Chinese-owned British brand MG will mark their entry in India when the company launches the Hector SUV in June. However, the brand has expansive plans for the Indian market and the launch onslaught of the brand will not end with the Hector SUV in India. The SUV segment in India is the lone segment that shows promise of growth amid an industry-wide slowdown. MG has taken note of the trend and is planning to make the most of the same. In the next couple of years, the up and coming brand plans to bring as many as 4 SUVs to the Indian market. However, the brand will not keep itself limited to SUVs and will also bring out other types of cars in the Indian market in the future, but for now the focus will solely be on the SUVs.

The Chinese-owned British brand had recently presented their eZS electric SUV on a global level. As the brand had already made clear, the new electric SUV will be launched in India some time later this year and will the second product from the company to hit India markets. The first car that the brand will notably launch in India will be the Hector SUV. The upcoming electric SUV eZS will not be sold only in India rather, it will also be on sale in other markets such as the UK, Australia, Germany and the Middle East. The upcoming MG eZS could come with a range in the vicinity of 250 kilometers on a single charge. Similar to the upcoming Hector SUV, the eZS electric car will also come with a connected layout and will feature over-the-air (OTA) updates. Like the MG Hector, the eZS will also feature MG's iSmart Next-Gen connected technology that will provide smart application, built-in Apps, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Smart Features, Voice Assist, and Infotainment. One can expect the upcoming e-ZS to come with a price tag near Rs. 10 lakh in the Indian market.

Although Hector will be the largest vehicle in the segment when it will be launched the company has only presented a 5-seater version of the SUV in the market. The dimensions of the MG Hector stand at 4,655 mm long and 2,750 mm tall, this makes it ideal for a 7-seater car, and the same has been confirmed by the MD of MG India. There will be no other changes in the SUV apart from the addition of a third row of seats, and all the mechanical parts are also expected to remain the same. Upon launch, the upcoming 7-seater version of MG Hector SUV will take on the likes of upcoming Tata Cassini in the market.

As far as the other 2 SUVs are concerned, there is no clarity or information on the upcoming SUVs, but the brand is sure to mark and entry in the full-size SUV segment with one of the two products in the future. The other SUV could be a smaller compact SUV that will help MG get a market share in the flourishing compact SUV segment in India.
