MG Motors has already presented their first offering -- the Hector SUV -- in the Indian market and now the launch of the SUV is also just a few weeks away. The Chinese-owned British brand's outlets across the country have started bookings for the upcoming SUV at an amount of Rs. 50,000 through both online and offline means. The launch of the car will take place later in June or perhaps by the start of July. The prices for the upcoming Hector are expected to start from the point of Rs. 12-14 lakhs.
Upon launch the MG Hector will take on the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, and Jeep Compass in the Indian market. The company is also planning to bring out a 7 seater version of the MG Hector in the future. Talking about the upcoming MG Hector, it has a very imposing look in the streets and has a massive street presence. The major reason behind this is the size of the SUV. Upon launch the Hector will take the crown of the largest SUV in the segment. However, the street presence that the SUV commands can also be attributed to its design as it has the same futuristic design that has kind of become a trend in the car industry lately.
It was expected that the upcoming Chinese-owned British brand will stuff the Hector SUV with features to the brim and now the company has presented the car’s features and exterior looks in an official capacity. The package includes many segment firsts and segment leading points. Perhaps the major attraction is the iSmart system that offers cloud based connectivity in the Hector.
MG Hector will come with an inbuilt Airtel eSIM with the upcoming SUV ready to adopt the 5G technology. This extremely advanced feature will equip the MG Hector to get updated via the eSim, just like the technology used in the smartphones. iSmart technology will be a standard feature of all the upcoming MG cars in the future. The upcoming MG Hector will also be equipped with a 10.8-inch portrait-oriented infotainment system featuring a few pre-installed apps and a 7 inch driver LCD display .
As far as the engine options for the MG Hector are concerned, the upcoming Chinese owned British brand SUV will come equipped with two engine options. The first will be a 1.5L liter turbocharged petrol and the other a 2L Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel, the latter being the same one found on Compass and Harrier.
The outputs for petrol engine will be 143 Bhp-250 Nm whereas the diesel engine is supposed to produce 170 Bhp of power and 350 Nm. MG will also offer a 48V hybrid system as an optional feature with the petrol variants. Also, the petrol variants also get 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission as an option.
