The bike could be smaller, lighter and more affordable than the CRF1000L motorcycle.

The company is working on a smaller version of its adventure-tourer, the CRF1000L Africa Twin. Honda has found that there is a smaller, lighter and beginner-friendly Africa Twin that’s also more affordable.

The bike could be powered by the existing 750cc parallel-twin motor from the NC750X. This motor makes 54.7hp and works with a 6-speed transmission. You can expect a lower seat-height from the larger bike’s 820-840mm. The downsizing from the bigger bike will mean a much lower kerb weight, which is a good thing. The bike may feature fewer rider-assist functions, however it will have enough to aid beginner riders.

Honda wants to send the bike to developing markets such as India and south-east Asia, as well as to markets like the UK. You could see a production version in 2020.
