Audi is currently testing its all-new Q5 SUV in India, and will launch the model here sometime in mid-2017.
In its latest avatar, the Q5 sports a front end akin to the bigger Q7, but the remaining car doesn’t look very different from the outgoing model. However, this rival to the Mercedes GLC is an all-new car, and shares its modular underpinnings with the new A4 and Q7.
Its interior design is very similar to what you get on the Q7, and is a big leap over the current model in terms of fit, finish and equipment levels. Features on board include a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster, Audi’s latest MMI infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlamps and a multi-zone auto climate control to name a few.
Expect it to arrive with 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines developing 252hp and 190hp respectively. It will come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
What’s also nice is that Audi plans on locally assembling the model in India at its Aurangabad plant, which is sure to help the carmaker keep prices of the SUV competitive.
