BMW Motorrad is all set to unveil the production version of their upcoming R18 Cruiser on the 3rd of April, 2020. The bike will be showcased at The Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin, Texas. This latest model of BMW R18 takes inspiration from Cruisers like the Harley Davidson and Indian Motorcycle. This latest cruiser will be of German lineage flaunting an iconic boxer engine design, loaded to the gills with the latest electronic gizmos including the radar-powered adaptive cruise control system.
The new BMW R18 features a 1802 cc, 2 cylinder engine with a 107 mm bore and a 100 mm stroke. It will deliver 90 bhp power at 4750 rpm and will come mated to a 6-speed transmission with reverse gear as an option. The engine weighs 244.3 pounds without the whole bike around it and uses an over-head valve with dual camshaft set up reminiscent of BMW’s early boxer engines. The shaft also receives an additional bearing to avoid excessive vibration caused by the two oversized cylinders.
Not many details have been revealed about its features. A series of spy shot reveal that it will be offered in both a naked and a fully-faired version. The engine design dictates the riding geometry thus forcing the rider to sit up straight on the saddle.
